James Walker is a global materials engineering specialist working in partnership with blue chip customers across the oil and gas, metallurgical, nuclear, biopharmaceutical, marine propulsion, aerospace and renewable energy industries.

We are now seeking an Inside Sales Representativein the Chicagoland area, supporting a portfolio of new and existing business out of our HQ location in Glenwood, IL. This individual will be responsible for providing a first point of contact for customer support with inquiries, orders, complaints, etc. This position has the ability for HYBRID/REMOTE working after an in-office training period lasting 2-3 months.

The ideal career path for this individual includes training toward an external sales role in the future.

Job duties include...

  • Build strong customer relationships using a range of communication methods – primarily phone, email, and social media
  • Understand customers’ business needs and address any issues following up on sales opportunities
  • Proactively follow up quotations to determine the status of James Walkers proposals and convert opportunities to orders
  • Capture customer detail and follow-ups on an constant basis, using that information to track customer progress and report out to senior leadership.
  • Proactively contact existing customer base to move the business forward
  • Lead generation and prospecting for new business
  • Discover networking and social events while being mindful of core product/sector/geography and proximity to outside sales teams
  • Maintain close liaison with logistics to ensure order completion
  • Have a good working knowledge of production and shipping processes as well as quality assurance methods, and to continually build and develop this knowledge

Qualified candidates will possess...

  • high school diploma
  • product/industry knowledge or previous experience in a manufacturing and/or technical sales environment
  • successful track record developing profitable sales and customers from an internal sales role
  • knowledge of maintenance, repair and operations (MRO) within the Metallurgical market in the Chicago area (preferred)

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $45,000.00 - $65,000.00 per year
